The word for today is planet. This is quite a simple icon to create as it's quite a visual word, so I know what to illustrate. This is my first attempt; it does look like a planet, however I think the outer ring can be improved.
This was my next attempt. I think this is very successful and it is clear that it is a planet.
I then added colour to show how it could work if it were used.
