OUGD603 MUNA - The Brief - Competition Brief (Brief Five)

The Brief.

The queer band MUNA have set up a zine submission in which they ask to create a piece of art that answers the question 'What does the album 'About U' mean to you?'. As a huge fan of the work the band are doing and the awareness they are bringing to the LGBTQ+ community, this is an important brief to get my own work out into the community.

Background and Considerations.

'Ur girls are about to leave for our first headline tour to play you our debut album. Preparing for the album release and tour has been such a surreal and humbling experience. We get the opportunity to play music for you, our wonderful fans, every night for a month, and to watch our first official body of work unfold with your help.

We wouldn't be here without all of your love and support. You make MUNA a reality, and for this we pledge to never stop being grateful. We have been given the opportunity to connect with many of you on Twitter, Instagram, in real, etc, but as we begin to embark on this journey we want to try to continue the conversations we have started with all of you in a new, more creative way.

We wrote the album 'About U' in the hope that it will help you process your own experiences and aid in your forward movement and growth. However, we also wrote (and produced) this album ourselves to encourage you to create cool shit on your own. Therefore, throughout the course of this tour, we will be asking you to help us create a ZINE 'about u'. We want this ZINE to be about your experience of the album, your experience of the show, or even just your experience.'

A drawing, a photograph, a poem, a collage, a painting, anything that tells us something 'about u'.
We ask that the submission be no bigger than a standard US piece of paper (8.5 by 11.0 inches).

You can email your submission to
You can submit a hard copy at the merchandise table at any of our headline shows (there will be a box marked 'ZINE SUBMISSIONS')

Time Scale.
